Vetiver is a graminaceous plant found throughout the tropical and subtropical areas in India and Sri Lanka, particularly in regions rich in marshy soils. This densely tufted, perennial grass can grow up to 1.5 - 2 meters tall, and has a spongy rhizome, which has an unique ability to rapidly establish and stabilize soils with its deep, intense root system, making it a natural erosion control in shallow and instable areas. The thin, fibrous roots are highly aromatic and have been harvested for their perfume in India for thousands of years. The leaves of Vetiver are light green, narrow, linear and erect but characteristically bent backward near their tips. Vetiver essential oil is distilled from the roots and has a distinctive fragrance. The oil is often used in modern perfumery as a base note and fixative.

Vetiver essential oil is an effective and powerful sedative. It calms the mind and has a strongly grounding and stabilizing effect, useful for those who are anxious, hyperactive, insecure, or nervous to the point of being hysterical. Vetiver is also valuable in treating insomnia, stress and depression due to its relaxation properties.

The oil calms nervousness, regulates appetite, and has proven helpful with anorexia nervosa. It also stimulates the production of red blood cells. This improves circulation and immunity. It relives the muscular aches, pains, spasms and stiff joints of arthritis, rheumatism, sprains and strains.

Vetiver essential oil is occasionally used in aromatherapy for its cooling, moisturizing effects on the skin. It is helpful for most inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, dermatitis, psoriasis and urticaria. The same properties may be useful for other inflammatory conditions, for example arthritis.

The fragrance of Vetiver essential oil varies according to the region where it is cultivated. But in general, it has powerful smoky, deep, earthy top notes and sweet persistent undertones.

Vetiver essential oil is deeply relaxing and emotionally calming. It is helpful in overcoming depression, insomnia and nervousness. Vetiver essential oil reduces anxiety, stress and tension by calming the mind.

I love vetiver!

Pros: Such a awesomely deep scent

I never heard of vetiver before Natural Green sent me a sample with one of my orders... It's powerful, smoky and deep. I mix this in a spray (20 ml spray bottle, 16 drops of vetiver, rest in 95% grain alcohol or water, whichever I have close) and frequently spray all around my desk area. Now that I have it and know about it trust me, I'll never be without it!
Enjoy :-)

Best vetiver!

Pros: High quality, fast shipping, good customer service!

Cons: Can't think of any.

I am a professional aromatherapist with 30 years experience in essential oils. I can assure you that this vetiver is the best you can get. If you have experience with essential oil, you need no scientists to tell you whether an oil is pure. You nose can tell you everything. I was certain I purchased exactly what I was looking as soon as I opened the bottle.

Vetiver has always been an under-rated essential oil. Many of my clients initially don't find the smell pleasant, saying it is too "heavy" or smoky. But as soon as they get to know the oil, they will start loving it and become addicted to the elegant fragrant.

The customer service from this company is great. Fast shipping and fast respond. Although I don't remember the name of the lady who helped me to take care of my order (I changed my order two times right before it was leaving), she really deserves a credit here.
